We move into Day 3 at WTA Miami with the top-seeded players joining the fray. There are some exciting matchups on the slate, including Maria Sakkari vs Yue Yuan. As always, we at LWOT have the preview and prediction for that match and all other happenings around the grounds of Miami. But who will advance?

WTA Miami Day 3 Predictions

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Diane Parry

Head-to-Head: Haddad-Maia 0-2 Parry

Beatriz Haddad Maia is the 11th seed, but Diane Parry leads the head-to-head. The Brazilian hasn’t had a good start to the season. Apart from a third round in the Australian Open and a semifinal in Abu Dhabi, Haddad Maia has exited early from all events. Parry has been consistent this season, with a quarterfinal being her highlight. The Frenchwoman has progressed to the third round at most events and should do so again here.

Prediction: Parry in 2

Veronika Kudermetova vs Wang Xinyu

Head-to-Head: First Meeting

Veronika Kudermetova is the 18th seed in Miami. The Russian has not progressed far in any event so far this year. Her worst result came as a loss against qualifier Heather Watson in Abu Dhabi. The Brit took out Kudermetova in straight sets. Xinyu Wang has lost every time she has faced a seed so far this year. This will not be straight forward, with both looking to move past some unfortunate early season results.

Prediction: Kudermetova in 3

Dayana Yastremska vs Daria Saville

Head-to-Head: Yastremska 0-3 Saville

Dayana Yastremska made the Australian Open semifinal, but since then has not managed to repeat that level of play. The Ukrainian has fallen short in every other tournament so far this season. Daria Saville has not gone deep in many tournaments to date, but the Australian owns the head to head advantage. They have met at Indian Wells, Roland Garros and Brisbane. The Australian has taken the last 2 in straight sets. Yastremska will look to make a dent into the stats, but I see Saville advancing.

Prediction: Saville in 2

Maria Sakkari vs Yue Yuan

Head to Head: Sakkari 1-0 Yuan

Maria Sakkari is the eighth seed and is coming in on the back of an excellent performance at Indian Wells. Having made the final, the Greek was outclassed by the top seed. However, Sakkari will take solace from making the final. Yue Yuan made the quarterfinal at Indian Wells so this is going to be a great match up. I like Sakkari to prevail in a decider.

Prediction: Sakkari in 3
