The second round ends on Day 4 of the WTA 1000 event in Miami. Iga Swiatek has already completed the Sunshine Double back in 2022 with Indian Wells and Miami being part of her 37-match win streak. While not quite on a run like this now, she’s been absolutely insane this year with a 20-2 win/loss record. But can the mercurial Camila Giorgi have a shot at taking her down? Who do you think will advance?

WTA Miami Day 4 Predictions

Anastasia Potapova vs Danielle Collins

Head-to-head: First meeting

Anastasia Potapova made the quarterfinals here last year and was in the form of her young career back then. The Russian had a few rough months but it seems that the Sunshine Double is bringing the best out of her again. The problem is that Danielle Collins is playing inspired tennis at the moment too. Pretty much since she announced she’s retiring at the end of the season, the American has been able to swing a lot more freely and start producing big results. This could be another one added to the list.
Prediction: Collins in 3

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs Shelby Rogers

Head-to-head: First meeting

Shelby Rogers has been hinting at retirement and that opening win over Linda Fruhvirtova should really help her see if she can still return to the top level. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is actually over one year older than her opponent here, but is still going strong. The Russian is almost back in the Top 20 now, which is very impressive compared to where she was this time last year. Older or not, she just seems to have a bit more game left.
Prediction: Pavlyuchenkova in 3

Maria Timofeeva vs Linda Noskova

Head-to-head: First meeting

Can Linda Noskova secure another meeting with Iga Swiatek (provided the Pole gets through her second round as well)? The talented Czech has been seemingly getting closer and closer to putting her game together, the best example of that being her win over the aforementioned World No. 1 in Melbourne. Maria Timofeeva is also a developing prospect, but she might struggle to find the answers if Noskova finds one of her peak displays that happen increasingly often.
Prediction: Noskova in 2

Iga Swiatek vs Camila Giorgi

Head-to-head: 1-1

Camila Giorgi might be out of the Top 100 now, but the Italian still isn’t that sort of player you want to face early in the event. She’ll be attacking ruthlessly and make the match all about herself. Iga Swiatek completely dominated the field in Indian Wells the past two weeks, once again showing she’s still the woman to beat on slower hard courts. Maybe in Miami she can be slightly more vulnerable especially with the mental toll from the previous event, but Giorgi executing her shots well enough to win still sounds somewhat unlikely.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2
