The final Masters 1000 quarterfinals of 2025 will occur on Friday in Paris. Jannik Sinner, who can still mathematically finish as the year-end No. 1 if he wins the tournament, must beat Ben Shelton to keep those hopes alive. We predict all four matches, but which players do you expect to reach the semifinals?
Head-to-head: First meeting
This is a significant test of Vacherot’s incredible and unexpected winning streak at Masters 1000 tournaments. At his best, Auger-Aliassime is one of the best indoor hard-court players worldwide. Despite the Canadian’s impressive record at indoor events, I think the conditions will take Vacherot to victory. The courts in Paris are much slower than last year, which favors him more than Auger-Aliassime.
Prediction: Vacherot in 3
Head-to-head: De Minaur 3-1 Bublik
Bublik’s victory against de Minaur at this year’s French Open after losing the opening two sets 2-6 was remarkable. His losing three matches against the Australian before that made it even more stunning. That memory could give Bublik belief, but I still favor de Minaur slightly more on a medium-slow indoor hard court. His athleticism is a significant asset.
Prediction: de Minaur in 2
Head-to-head: Medvedev 14-7 Zverev
Zverev won his first four meetings against Medvedev before being dominated since. The German’s cause is not helped by the 2021 US Open champion’s recent improved level. Matches between these two often are not pretty to watch, and that will likely be the case in Paris on a slow court. Wearing Zverev down and frustrating him is something Medvedev has done several times, and he has a good chance of achieving that again.
Prediction: Medvedev in 3
Head-to-head: Sinner 6-1 Shelton
It is impossible to look past the head-to-head in this matchup. Sinner has won 13 consecutive sets against Shelton since losing a tight first meeting at the 2023 Rolex Shanghai Masters. Shelton’s struggles to get into the Italian’s service games have put him under relentless pressure. The American’s excellent shot-making and massive serve mean he should never be ruled out, but triumphing against the World No. 2 is a tough ask.
Prediction: Sinner in 2
