No team in the newly formed UFL has gone through as much change this offseason as the Houston Roughnecks. The team has the roster and coaching staff of the Houston Gamblers of the USFL but took on the branding of their XFL counterpart.

After going through the first phase earlier in the month, the team shifted their focus to the Super Dispersal Draft on Monday. Houston made six selections, which was the second fewest of any team.

Here is a full breakdown of the Houston Roughnecks’ selections in the Super Dispersal Draft.

2024 Houston Roughnecks UFL Super Dispersal Draft Picks

Round Drafted - Player Analysis

Round 1 – RB Ezra Gray

While Memphis Showboats fans didn’t get to see much of Ezra Gray last year, he showed flashes of potential late in the season, running for 86 yards on 17 carries in two games for Memphis. He also played for the New Orleans Breakers in 2022 but saw limited playing time.

Roster Impact: Mark Thompson will go into training camp as the starter at running back, and Gray will have to compete with T.J. Pledger, Shermari Jones and Tiyon Evans for the backup role. His speed and ability to return kickoffs gives him a leg up on the competition.

Round 2 – DT Glen Logan

After being selected by the Arlington Renegades in the 2022 XFL Draft, defensive tackle Glen Logan was traded during training camp to the Roughnecks. In ten games, Logan racked up 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He also spent time with the Cleveland Browns in the NFL in 2022.

Roster Impact: Logan is more known for being a run stopper and should be one of the leaders in the starting lineup. Toby Johnson and Jeffery Johnson will be in the running at nose as well.

Round 3 – K/P Luis Aguilar

Luis Aguilar has consistently been one of the best kickers in the USFL for Philadelphia Stars, including a record eight field goals made in a single game last season. Aguilar converted 86.2 percent of his field goals in 2023, hitting 25 of his 29 attempts, and he only missed one extra point out of 39 attempts in two years in the USFL.

Roster Impact: Nick Vogel was the original kicker for the Gamblers last season, but he was not retained. Aguilar gives the team a significant boost on special teams in 2024.

Round 4 – OT/OG Norman Price

Norman Price was one of the starters on the offensive line for the San Antonio Brahmas in 2023. Price saw some time at guard and tackle, but he was placed on the reserve list late in the season. He has done stints with four different NFL teams and spent time in the CFL with two teams between 2016 and 2021.

Roster Impact: Three of the starters on the offensive line from the Gamblers are back for this season with the Roughnecks. Price is versatile in what position he can play, so he can step in as a guard or tackle on the Roughnecks’ offensive line.

Round 5 – LS Logan Klusman

Long snapper Logan Klusman signed with the Houston Gamblers in July. Klusman was a long-time long snapper at Kansas, spending five seasons with the school. He was named first team Academic All-Big 12 in 2020.

Roster Impact: Klusman was originally brought in to replace Ross Reiter at long snapper. The Roughnecks are getting their player back, and he should start for the team at the position.

Round 6 – WR Gene Coleman II

Gene Coleman II was originally slated to play in the IFL for the Northern Arizona Wranglers after signing with the team last month. In college at Delaware, he caught 124 passes for 1,461 yards and seven touchdowns while also returning kickoffs and punts for the team. Coleman spent training camp with the Carolina Panthers in 2022.

Roster Impact: The wide receiver room is deep with Justin Hall and Isiah Hennie leading the way. If Coleman has a chance to show off his return skills on special teams, he has a chance to make the roster.
