Welp! Ubisoft has released their post-launch roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and it’s looking packed to the wooden rafters with content. There’s an expansion. There are monthly story drops. Parkour upgrades. A juiced-up photo mode?! Be still, our fandom hearts.

Whether you’re here for more assassin/samurai action or just counting down the days until New Game+ drops, here’s a full breakdown of where this roadmap is taking us—and why we’re actually excited for it.

Claws of Awaji Expansion Announced

The first major Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC is titled Claws of Awaji—and yes, it sounds badass. It’s dropping later in 2025 and will add over 10 hours of new content set on Awaji Island, a brand-new region.

You’re up against new enemies (yay, new pain in the necks), unlock fresh abilities, and—get this—Naoe will get her hands on a Bō staff (coolness factor increased). The expansion is the continuation stories of both Naoe and Yasuke. Plus point? It’s free for players who pre-ordered the game. So big win!

Monthly “Story Drops” Start in May

Ubisoft’s also rolling out a series of free monthly content updates starting in May, called “Story Drops.” These will add:

  • New side quests
  • World activities
  • New allies
  • Additional abilities-

The first one is The Works of Luis Frois—this story drop is about the historical Jesuit scholar and his role in the setting. Honestly? Deep cut. But we’re here for historically correct-ish lore drops that aren’t just flavor text.

Parkour Is Getting a Glow-Up

Finally—Ubisoft is addressing parkour, and the improvements are actually promising. Starting in May, players can expect:

  • Vertical Ledge Jumps
  • Back Ejects (with height!)
  • Re-animated Side Ejects

Translation? Smoother traversal, more fluid movement, and fewer “ugh why can’t I climb that” moments. About time.

Photo Mode Gets Fancy

Get your filters ready—Photo Mode is getting a full upgrade too:

  • New filters and stickers
  • Character poses and facial expressions
  • Ambient music tracks while you shoot

They’re clearly leaning into the content-creator crowd with this one, and we can’t blame them.

Final Thoughts: Ubisoft Might Stick the Landing?

Ubisoft says they’re listening—and for once, it kind of shows. Alongside the Assassin’s Creed Shadows content roadmap, they’ve confirmed:

  • New Game+ is on the way
  • Stealth/combat difficulty settings are being added
  • Immersion tweaks and general QoL improvements are coming soon

If they follow through, Assassin’s Creed Shadows might have one of the strongest post-launch plans the series has seen in years. Let’s just hope they don’t Ezio-roll away from these promises when it counts.
