Firefly, or Sam, has been officially revealed as a playable character in Honkai Star Rail! Check out the drip marketing for Firefly (Sam) and the official reveal posted on HoYoverse accounts.

“Fireflies are such magical creatures, aren’t they? They may throw themselves at a flame or suddenly grow old, but every night before that, they will shine brighter than the stars.”

Born as a weapon, she’s afflicted with the agony of Entropy Loss Syndrome due to genetic modification.

She joined the Stellaron Hunters in search of the meaning of life, relentlessly pursuing ways to defy fate.

Mentions of “Sam” have been in the game since its release, but we only got to see him in action in Penacony. Firefly was initially thought of as a completely separate character when she was introduced in Version 1.6 along with Penacony.

When will Firefly / Sam be playable?

Firefly is a 5-star Fire character on the Path of Destruction. She’s expected to be playable on Honkai Star Rail Version 2.3. This update is expected to go live on June 19, 2024.

Who are the Firefly and Sam Voice Actors?

Due to the nature of the character, Firefly gets a pair of voice actors per localization.

For the English voiceover, Firefly is voiced by Analese Fisher. She’s an on-screen actor whose previous roles include Kendall from Metal Lords, Beth the Time Keeper from Craig of the Creek, and Rowan Shaw from Crazy Fast. Her other video game roles include NPCs Salmon Eri and Mirai from Genshin Impact, Snow Sugar Cookie from Cookie Run: Kingdom, and Anke from Lost Ark.

She is joined by Adin Rudd who plays Sam in the English voiceover. His previous roles include Beelzebub from Granblue Fantasy, Lauriel from Lost Ark, and Gallant B from Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

Firefly’s Japanese voice actor is Tomori Kusunoki. Her previous roles include Llenn in Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online, Makima in Chainsaw Man, Misha Necron in The Misfit of Demon King Academy, and Kirara in Kirara Fantasia.

Sam’s voice actor in the Japanese voiceover is Jun Kasama. His previous work includes Gintama, Cells at Work!, Demon Slayer, and Overlord.

Firefly is expected to be playable on Honkai Star Rail Version 2.3. This update is scheduled to ship on June 19, 2024.
