Angel Reese’s debut Chicago Sky jersey quickly sold out on Fanatics, just days after it was released following the WNBA draft. The jerseys flew off the virtual shelves, selling out shortly after 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, signaling a strong fan base eagerly awaiting Reese’s professional debut.

Reese, drafted seventh overall by the Sky, had a standout collegiate career at Maryland and LSU, culminating in a national championship with LSU in 2023.

Reese’s statistics were impressive, averaging 23 points and 15.4 rebounds in her best season. Reese is set to start her WNBA journey when the Sky face the Dallas Wings on May 15.

In parallel, Caitlin Clark is making waves in women’s basketball, drawing comparisons to NFL’s impact on sports. On the night she was drafted, Clark’s Indiana Fever jersey set a record on Fanatics, outselling any other player’s jersey across all sports on draft night, according to Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin.

This milestone underscores her significant pull from her college days and hints at her potential to elevate WNBA viewership.

With 36 of the Fever’s 40 games scheduled for national broadcast next season, Clark’s transition to the WNBA could boost the league’s competitiveness with other major sports leagues like the NHL, MLB, and NBA.

As the postseason approaches during the NFL season, it will be intriguing to see how the Fever and the WNBA perform, particularly if they coincide with NFL games.

Together, Reese and Clark are breaking records in merchandise sales and setting the stage for a transformative era in women’s basketball, hinting at an exciting season ahead.
