Angel Reese calls out critics following strong preseason performance

Angel Reese called out her critics on social media Wednesday following a strong game against the New York Liberty Tuesday night in her second preseason contest.

The Chicago Sky forward recorded 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting while adding five rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes as the team blew out the Liberty 101-53. Reese had 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals in the Sky's preseason opener on Friday, a 92-81 loss to the Minnesota Lynx.

The former LSU star's effort on Tuesday came roughly 24 hours after she made headlines while attending the Met Gala on Monday in New York City.

Reese was chosen by Chicago with the seventh overall pick in April's WNBA Draft. Reese was chosen four picks after the Sky selected former South Carolina star Kamilla Cardoso, who will be out for 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury.

Both bigs will bring championship experience to Chicago, a team that won their only title in 2021. The Sky lost in the WNBA Semifinals in 2022 and the first round in 2023.

Reese led the Tigers to an NCAA championship in 2023 before bowing out to Caitlin Clark-led Iowa in the Elite Eight this year. Cardoso and the Gamecocks fell to the Hawkeyes in the 2023 Final Four before getting revenge against Iowa this spring, winning the championship and capping off an undefeated 38-0 season.
