Indiana’s Mackenzie Holmes is one of five finalists for the 2024 Lisa Leslie Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced Friday afternoon.

The award honors the nation’s most outstanding center, and it’s the second straight season Holmes has made the top five.

Holmes leads the Hoosiers with 21 points per game, having reached double figures in 26 out of 27 games this season. She also averages 7.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. On Feb. 11, Holmes surpassed Tyra Buss as the Indiana women’s basketball all-time leading scorer. She became the program’s all-time winningest player two games ago in the win over No. 6 Iowa.

The five finalists will be presented to Leslie and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The committee is made up of the top women’s college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers. South Carolina’s Aliyah Boston, now with the Indiana Fever, had won the award for the past three seasons.
