The 2023 WNBA Finals has been one of the most in-demand tickets in the league’s history — and it could have been even more so with a closer series.
Wednesday’s Game 4 between the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty is tracking as a top-four best-selling WNBA game — regular season or playoffs — of all-time, according to data provided to Front Office Sports by secondary ticket seller StubHub. In order, Games 3, 1, and 2 of the series attracted the highest WNBA sales in the company’s history.
Vivid Seats data characterizes Game 4 as the second-best-selling Liberty home game since at least 2015, with an average sold price of $118; it trails only Sunday’s Game 3 ($153). The company adds that fans are traveling over 220 miles, on average, for Game 4.
The series as a whole — driven by the superteam nature of both squads — is already the best-selling WNBA Finals ever for StubHub, with the company reporting that sales are up 185% over the 2022 Finals between the Aces and Connecticut Sun, which was the previous record holder.
The Liberty themselves reported that, with 17,143 spectators in attendance, Sunday’s 87-73 win over the Aces brought in more ticket revenue than any single game in WNBA history.
However, Wednesday’s contest could have been even more of a draw had New York pulled out a win or two in Las Vegas.
Ticket aggregator TicketIQ reports to FOS that the get-in price ($53) and the average list price ($173) are down 43% and 41%, respectively, since the start of the series. The most expensive tickets are listed at $4,993 for courtside seats, down from over $6,000 at the start of the series.
The company, which tracks ticket prices and availability across the marketplace, says there are still a handful of primary tickets and just over 1,000 available on the secondary market.
That said, the prices could skyrocket again if the Liberty can pull out a win and send the series back to Vegas for a decisive Game 5 on Friday.
