Sparks announce 'contract divorce' with four-time All-Star Liz Cambage

Just over five months ago, center Liz Cambage signed a contract with the Los Angeles Sparks. Now, the four-time All-Star reportedly is ready to leave the team.

Subsequent reporting has since confirmed that Cambage will indeed leave the Sparks.

The Sparks later confirmed the split with Cambage, announcing the development as a "contract divorce."

Cambage has suited up in 25 of the Sparks' first 27 games this season and registered 11 points, five rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 22 minutes during the group's most recent game — an 18-point loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday. Los Angeles has dropped three of their past four contests and enter Tuesday tied with the Dallas Wings for sixth place in the league with a 12-15 record.

The 30-year-old Cambage's 13.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 23.4 minutes per game are her lowest since her rookie season in 2011.

It's been an eventful season for the Sparks thus far, as the team fired head coach and general manager Derek Fisher in early June following a 5-7 start.
