One of the biggest moves of the WNBA offseason was former Aces guard Kelsey Plum being delt to the Los Angeles Sparks in a three-team deal bringing former Seattle Storm star Jewell Loyd to the Aces in exchange for the No. 2 overall draft pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
The trade of Kelsey Plum came as a shock to some fans simply because Plum played an integral part in not only the team’s powerhouse offense but the team’s championship success.
In recent weeks, Plum has revealed in an interview that she wanted a change of scenery, and the Aces organization fulfilled her wish.
With the absence of Plum, that leaves A’ja Wilson without Plum for the first time in her professional career.
On Wednesday, Wilson spoke with media about Plum’s absence.
According to Sports Illustrated, Wilson said, “I mean, I processed it just like anyone else. It is what it is,” Wilson said, per an X post from KTNV reporter Taylor Rocha.
Wilson continued, “It’s a business. People wanna work on their brand, new journeys, new stories. And I love that for her, and I’m glad that she’s in a space that she’s happy, healthy, and thriving in that.”
“But at the end of the day, I can’t worry really about that anymore. I’ve got to worry about what’s in this locker room and what we have going on,” she continued.
The Aces faceoff against the Sparks on for the first time in the 2025 season on May 30 at home.
