After starting the 2025 WNBA preseason a perfect 2-0, Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky couldn't get it done in the preseason finale, finishing 2-1.
On Saturday night, the Sky fell to the Minnesota Lynx 92-87, just a few days after defeating the same team.
Now, Chicago will look toward the regular season, with Tyler Marsh taking over the head coach position, replacing Teresa Weatherspoon.
The Sky also had a few major roster additions over the offseason, including bringing back two-time WNBA champion Courtney Vandersloot and adding Washington Mystics star Ariel Atkins.
However, over Reese's first two seasons, the Sky haven't had their own practice facility. In fact, they have been holding practices at Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield, Illinois. But that will change for the 2026 season as Chicago is building a "new state-of-the-art practice facility," which will cost roughly $38 million.
On Monday, Reese and numerous other members of the Sky took part in the team's media availability. The former LSU Tigers star revealed her excitement for the new facility, but admitted joining Chicago in 2024 was a "risk."
"It was a risk to come here," Reese said. "We don't have a practice facility. It goes to show what (Vandersloot) wanted. It goes to show what Kia (Nurse), Ariel, what they trusted and believed in. You're gonna see, once we get that practice facility, everybody's gonna try to come to Chicago. But the door will be shut. Nah, just kidding ... ."
Angel Reese says joining the Sky was a risk — no practice facility, fewer perks than other teams. But she and her teammates, like Sloot, Kia, Ariel, and more, believe in the vision. Through three preseason games, Reese averaged 20.3 minutes, tallying a team-leading 11.3 points along with 7.3 rebounds per contest. Fellow 2024 first-round pick Kamilla Cardoso has been solid as well, averaging 9.7 points (third on the Sky) on 57.9 percent shooting and 7.7 rebounds (first).
The Sky will open up the regular season on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET, traveling to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The game will be televised on ABC.
