Caitlin Clark isn't going to let her injury situation derail her spirit this All-Star weekend.
Unfortunately, Clark won't be able to compete in the WNBA All-Star Game or 3-point contest due to a right groin injury. She suffered this injury during the final minute of Tuesday night's game between the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun.
Clark will remain in Indiana for this weekend's All-Star festivities. She just won't get to compete in them.
"I'm so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend. ... I know this will be the best All-Star yet," Clark said. "I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy [Brondello] coach our team to a win."
It was announced Thursday that Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes will take Clark's spot in the All-Star Game.
As for the 3-point contest, Fever teammate Lexie Hull will fill in for Clark. She has made an impressive 46.8 percent of her shots from beyond the arc this season.
Though it's not really a surprise, Clark is thrilled that Hull is replacing her in the 3-point contest. She shared the news on Instagram along with this message: "Let's get ittttt."
Hull has her work cut out for her if she wants to win this Friday's contest. She'll go up against Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum and Washington Mystics guard Sonia Citron.
Gray and Ionescu have won the last two 3-point contests. It'll be tough to take either star down.
The 3-point contest will be televised on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET.
