Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever had to make a tough decision on Thursday. This came in the form of a mid-season roster cut after just five games played in the 2026 campaign.
The team announced on Thursday that guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough has been released and will now part ways with the team. The 5-foot-9 guard joined the Fever in the offseason and earned herself a one-year contract after training camp. That deal has now been waived, and she will now need to look for a new team.
Walker-Kimbrough made an appearance in two out of Indiana’s first five games of the season, playing a combined seven minutes off the bench.
This is an unfortunate yet necessary development for the Fever as they look to refine their roster after their 3-2 start. The Fever have an excess of backcourt players in their lineup, and Walker-Kinbrough was at the bottom of the pecking order for Coach White.
While the move does not come as a complete shock, the unwanted turn of events still drew many reactions from fans on social media.

The Fever now have one roster spot available after waiving Shatori-Kimbrough. It’s possible that the team will add a frontcourt player to back up Aliyah Boston and Monique Billings.
