Fever Reveal Good News on Caitlin Clark Ahead of WNBA Game vs. Dream
Grace Smith/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

After a brief injury scare for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, things appear to be trending in the right direction before the WNBA regular season tips off. Clark and the Fever are using the preseason to shake off the rust before their season opener against the Chicago Sky on May 17.

Indiana takes on the Atlanta Dream on Saturday with all eyes on Clark's status for the game. The two WNBA squads will be familiar foes during the month of May. Clark was absent from the Fever's 79-74 victory versus the Washington Mystics on May 3.

The star is dealing with a leg injury, but it does not appear to be serious. Indiana revealed the injury report on Friday, and Clark was not listed, indicating the star is expected to play.

The Fever ruled out Damiris Dantas with a left leg injury. For the Dream, Jordin Canada is sidelined with a right leg injury.

Clark was able to play against the Brazilian National Team in a special exhibition game in Iowa City, Iowa, on Sunday. The star indicated she plans to play against the Dream on Saturday, adding that the leg "feels really good."

"Yeah, I think taking my time," Clark told reporters on Friday. "I feel really good, honestly and excited to get out there and play again tomorrow, work on things we need to work on.

"... Our medical staff has been really helpful, but I feel really good, honestly."

The preseason contest will provide a warm-up as the Fever and Dream square off twice in the coming weeks once the WNBA regular season begins. Indiana hosts Atlanta on May 20 before the two teams switch home arenas for a May 22 rematch.
