This past weekend in Lyon, France, the WWE Backlash Premium Live Event took place. During the show, the fans were continuously singing in praise of former WWE Champion AJ Styles, ‘He is Phenomenal, La, La, La.’ Recently, while talking to Mark of WrestleMobs (via Bodyslam.net), the Phenomenal One shared his thoughts on the unique chant.

AJ Styles mentioned that he initially did not have any idea what the fans were chanting, but then when he understood what the fans were chanting, he found it to be a perfect response.

“I didn’t know what was going on. I assumed it was a song. But I didn’t know what it was about. I heard phenomenal, but then I’ve come to realize it’s more of a celebration. So, perfect,” AJ Styles said.

Styles also took to Twitter to share his appreciation for the French crowd.

“Wasn’t sure if I should say anything, being a bad guy and all but…Lyon, France. IL EST VRAIMENT, IL EST VRAIMENT, Il EST VRAIMENT PHÉNOMÉNAL LALALALA,” AJ Styles tweeted.

The Phenomenal One wrestled another former Bullet Club leader in the form of Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Championship. This was the first title defense for The American Nightmare and he successfully defended his championship.
