Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles has had multiple moments at the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania. Some of his most notable matches are his match against Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE title, his match against Randy Orton, and many more. One of the most unique matches he had was against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36. It was the first and only Boneyard match.

While speaking to Adrian Hernandez during WrestleMania Media Day, AJ Styles shared his experience with wrestling the Deadman at WrestleMania 36. The Phenomenal One mentioned that he had other ideas but he claims that the cinematic match was the best thing that they could have done.

“Well, I had some ideas that I had that never came up because we never in a… We weren’t in a ring. So, it’s just one of ‘em where I wanted to just beat him down, take him out, take advantage of any of the things he’s ever hurt on his body, and just grind on it. To the point where it’s hard for him to stand up. And then him just go balls to the walls. Hit me with every finisher that he possibly had. And then, beat me right there in the middle of the ring. For me it’s like, ‘I gotta take all the Undertaker’s finishes.’ That would been cool.

“But, we didn’t get to do that and I thought that was all part of the plan. We didn’t know what the plan was, but it came to be one of the best things that we could have done in that cinematic match. We’re able to do what we wanted, and tell a great story. And him go out on his motorcycle, literally right?” AJ Styles said.
