Bayley discusses Mercedes Moné’s arrival in AEW.

Mercedes Moné, then known as Sasha Banks, walked out of WWE in May 2022. She made her NJPW debut at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 the following January but went down with an ankle injury in May. Mercedes returned to wrestling at AEW Dynamite: Big Business, as she officially signed with the company. Mercedes’ longtime friend and former tag team partner, Bayley, was in attendance, among others, to support her.

Speaking with Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy, Bayley discussed attending the show and expressed her gratitude for Mercedes.

“[Mercedes] is the best, I wouldn’t be here without her,” Bayley said. “She’s done so much for me. Even after she was done with WWE, she’s been there for me in my big moments. So I know I need to be there for her continuously throughout the years.

“It was incredible, I’m just happy that she was on a Wednesday where I’m like, ‘alright, I can actually make a Wednesday, that’s one of our few days off.'”

Bayley also noted that it was “bittersweet” to see Mercedes Moné was fully gone from WWE. However, she stated that she was proud of her.

“It was really special to see her celebrate with her family and her friends and people she started wrestling with and see her welcomed by a new family,” Bayley said. “It’s bittersweet, but I’m very, very proud of her and just so grateful we got to be there.”

Bayley is set to compete in a high-profile match at WrestleMania 40, as she will challenge IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Championship.
