WWE

We’ve seen it happen for one night, and now Bayley wants women to main event both WrestleMania nights, and in doing so, make history.

In most years, she may have some traction. 2024 is not most years. The Rock has returned, Cody is working to finish his story and the Bloodline is dominating as always. What that means is…odds are women won’t close out either night of WrestleMania. But she made the case anyways.

In a recent interview, the woman who challenges IYO SKY for gold felt it was her time to have that honor. But in basically the same breath, she also remarked that Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley are just as worthy. That praise lead her to call for each of their title matches to close nights 1 and 2 of WrestleMania 40. Or, in other words…making WWE history.

WWE

It’s a good idea…but…

As much as I can totally get behind either (or both) of the women’s title matches being worthy of such a huge honor…there was no way we were going to see both get that honor in 2024.

Think about it like this. Until COVID gave us the now-permanent 2 night WrestleMania…there was only one true main event, per WrestleMania. That means that, for all time, we’ve had what…less than 50 actual end-of-show main events. It’s rare air. And for this year, we know the Tribal Chief is getting one of them…and I’d bet money that he and his cousin have a tag match that is getting the other.

It’s why we see WWE billing some matches as a co-main event. Yes, it’s largely placating egos and whatnot, because a main event…a true main event…is what sends us home.

But, looking at the WrestleMania 40 card? Either women’s title match could be a show-closing affair…and there are a few others, too. It may be hyperbolic to say it, but this truly could be an all-time card. And all this after WWE had it’s rough card thrown into chaos with an injury or two.
