TNA TV underwent monumental changes in 2017. The promotion brought Jeff Jarrett back as consultant in 2017. It rebranded to IMPACT Wrestling two months later. Stars such as Drew Galloway (aka McIntyre), the Hardy Brothers, and Mike Bennett left the promotion during this period.

Despite the setbacks and the changes brought forth by the overhaul, TNA delivered some noteworthy action during said period. With that bein said, let’s take a look at some of the best TNA TV matches of 2017:

Eli Drake vs. Johnny IMPACT (GFW IMPACT World Heavyweight Title Match – September 28)

Before he became WWE’s top merchandise mover, LA Knight tasted success in IMPACT Wrestling. The former Eli Drake had a run with the GFW IMPACT World Heavyweight Championship in 2017. He was also tag team partner with Chris Adonis (formerly Chris Masters) during that period.

Drake had a solid title defense against Johnny IMPACT on TNA TNA in September 2017. The former John Morrison displayed some tremendous athleticism against the ever-dependable Eli Drake in this match-up.

The Broken Hardys vs. The Wolves (TNA World Tag Team Championship – January 12)

There’s no denying that TNA revitalized the careers of Matt and Jeff Hardy. Their feud in 2016 was the highlight of TNA TV. After setting aside their differences, the brothers joined forces and captured the TNA World Tag Team Championship.

They put their titles on the line against The Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) at the January 7 TNA TV tapings. Both teams demonstrated solid chemistry inside the squared circle. This turned out to be one of Wolves’ final matches as a tag team.

Alberto El Patron vs. Magnus (GFW Global Title Match – May 11)

Alberto El Patron had great success in WWE and TNA looked to capitalize on that. The former Alberto Del Rio joined the promotion in 2017 and was immediately thrusted into the world title picture.

Patron took on Magnus (aka Nick Aldis for the GFW Global Championship on free television. This match looked bland on paper, but it absolutely delivered. Patron defeated Aldis for the title after 14 minutes of action.

Eddie Edwards vs. Lashley (TNA World Title Match – February 9)

Bobby Lashley and Eddie Edwards carried TNA’s main event scene on their back in 2017. The pair had some great matches against each other on pay-per-view and weekly television. One of their better contests took place at the January 11 TNA tapings.

Lashley dominated the match with his explosive strength. Edwards, on the other hand, had his moments where he made fiery comebacks against the champion. The controversial ending was used to transition Edwards to his feud with Davey Richards.

Eddie Edwards vs. Ethan Carter III vs. Lashley (Three-Way Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Title – January 5)

Eddie Edwards had spectacular run on TNA TV in 2017. The former one-half of American Wolves gave fans some great matches during this period. One of his better matches came against Ethan Carter III and Lashley.

The three stars collided for Edwards’ world title on the first edition of TNA in 2017. This was a solid three-way bout wherein Edwards and Carter strategized to take out Lashley. The final-moment interference from Davey Richards was a nice surprise as well.
