Brady Pierce will be portraying Michael Hayes in the upcoming A24 film The Iron Claw, and he says was “thrilled” to play the role.

NWA star Brady Pierce took to social media on Wednesday and commented on the release of the trailer for the upcoming film. He noted that “you can’t tell the story of the Von Erich family without including one of wrestling’s greatest feuds.” When it came to playing The Freebirds’ Michael Hayes, Pierce said he was thrilled to portray the man, and that being in the trailer is “an honor.”

The film’s description, per the A24 website, is as follows:

“The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.”

Directed by Sean Durkin, The Iron Claw will feature some other notable actors in addition to Efron, including Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich. Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, and Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich.

Two real-life professional wrestlers also booked roles in The Iron Claw. While NWA’s “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason stars as WWE Hall of Famer Terry Gordy, AEW World Champion MJF will portray Lance Von Erich, the on-screen fictional relative of the Von Erich brothers.
