CM Punk gets his wish, is added to WWE 2K24

On Monday, it was revealed that CM Punk wasn't in the latest DLC for WWE 2K24. Punk took to social media to assure his fans he would be "looking for answers."

"I know that 2K has released a full roster for the new WWE video games," Punk said. "Cody's on the cover by the way, check it out, it's pretty cool. Now, I understand that being a little late to the party returning to the WWE and not being put in the game. But, they recently released a DLC teaser, and there's no sign of CM Punk. I know this because the fans are going crazy...So, I've decided to make it my thing today to get to the bottom of this."

Less than 24 hours later, the WWE released a DLC teaser post, with Punk being a marquee addition to the roster.

WWE's speed at fixing their mistake is impressive. Punk was the marquee roster addition of 2023. He brings a huge fan base with him. Many of them likely purchased the game to play as their favorite wrestler.

Punk noted being on the initial roster release was logical. Yet, to not have him headline a DLC package was an oversight by the game developers and the WWE.

Yes, Punk is currently out injured. His momentum has been halted. However, he isn't an upstart in the business. He's a true star within the wrestling world. His absence wasn't going to go unnoticed for long.

The online discourse surrounding Punk's absence is the second time the WWE has endured their fans' wrath in recent weeks. The first time came via the "We Want Cody" saga after it looked like The Rock was going to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

Still, the WWE deserves praise for listening to its fans and acting swiftly. It's another sign of the progress the company has been making over the past 18 months.

Those improvements haven't just been occurring on television, either. WWE 2K23 was widely appreciated for its depth and improvements.

Early signs are that 2K24 is also impressive. It's just another sign that the company continues to grow and improve, and it's giving fans reason to be excited for what's to come.
