CM Punk is doing a tremendous job making up for lost time. After nearly a decade of departure from the WWE, Punk has been an MVP-caliber performer in his return. He's been a part of some of the best feuds in years with Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins and is still a messiah on the mic.
At 46, it's apparent that Punk doesn't have many years left at the peak of his powers. He's finally getting the opportunity to live out one of his career aspirations and main event WrestleMania, but where does he go from there? The future Hall of Famer sort of hinted at what could be on the horizon.
While talking to Alistair McGeorge of Metro UK, Punk gave an open answer for what could be in his near future. "I would love to do stuff with Cena," Punk said. "I would love to do stuff with anybody, really. I'm in it to learn. And in that respect, I'm an artist. I want to do stuff that's fulfilling."
Later in the interview, Punk rejected imminent plans to retire. At least for now, he seems committed to his craft. The tease with Cena was equal parts expected and tantalizing. The two have always been perfect foils, and a role reversal of a face between Punk and heel Cena would be box office.
Since being reinserted into the fold, Punk has primarily worked with three or four guys and still has marquee programs with Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Gunther, and AJ Styles on the table. Punk's in the midst of a second prime, and if he can stay healthy, he will continue to be a primary focus of programming.
