WWE loves to bring in surprise names, leading to speculation The Hardys could exit AEW and return at WrestleMania 40 in short-time.

The WrestleMania card is partially completed, with a few matches yet to be announced. We know WWE is holding a ladder match for the tag team championships. Finn Balor and Damian Priest will defend their gold. A few teams have been confirmed, but there is still room and WWE could easily switch some names around.

On the The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, pro wrestling journalist Bill Apter went over The Hardys’ AEW status. Basically, he thinks a WWE return could happen at the grand show. “I have a feeling if The Hardys contract is coming up soon that we might even see them in that six-way ladder match at WrestleMania,” said Bill Apter.

Chances Are Not Great, But Crazier Things Have Happened

It seems like a stretch, but anything is possible. We know Matt Hardy’s AEW is expiring shortly and neither side have agreed to a new deal. In fact, Matt has been vocal about not knowing about his AEW future. And then, he was spotted in attendance at a recent RAW. Besides Matt, WWE would also want Jeff Hardy. He signed with AEW at a later date than his brother. Jeff’s deal still has time and AEW could add plenty of time because he missed many months due to injury and legal issues.

At WrestleMania 33, The Hardys returned to WWE. They took the spot of the New Day and won the titles that night. Remember, that was another ladder match. The seeds have certainly been planted for a potential WWE reunion. As for AEW, The Hardys have very little. They have seemingly become an afterthought and are booked in match with little story. Clearly, this was not wha they had in mind when opting for AEW over WWE. So, does anyone think WWE can get The Hardys at WrestleMania 40?
