It was another Friday of WWE cuts , as Drew Gulak was released following Ronda Rousey’s accusations which she shared on her recent book tour.

Ronda Rousey was, to say the least, a polarizing Superstar during her disappointing time in WWE. I say disappointing because, well, it was. Let’s be honest. Given her amateur and professional experience in combat sports, she certainly had the background. In spite of her resume, she never got over in WWE. Sure, she won championships, but she was never clicking. I always found her in ring work to be sub-par compared to most of her fellow Superstars, and no mic skills to speak of. She has burned plenty of bridges on her way out, and we can add another.

What happened?

Just recently, Rousey dropped accusations against Drew Gulak. Specifically, the former UFC and WWE champion alleged that Gulak grabbed the string of her sweatpants during a backstage interaction in 2022. Per Rousey’s description of things, she is indicating that Gulak was being creepy and weird and trying to purposely touch her draw string.

When the allegations came out, Gulak responded in kind. He confirmed some bits about the interaction. However, and to the shock of no one, he claimed he was trying to shake her hand. You know, a harmless accident. And maybe it was, it seems like it could have been. But with everything going on around Vince McMahon, WWE surely didn’t love the timing or the allegations.

On Friday evening, Fightful confirmed a number of NXT releases. Chief among them was Drew Gulak. He had already been written off NXT programming. There is no indication as of now that Gulak was axed because of Rousey. Regardless, he is now gone from WWE. Perhaps the company was on the fence about him and the accusation put them over the edge? Regardless, the Philadelphia product is going to be searching for work soon enough.
