Drew McIntyre feels there are no limitations on what his current WWE character can do.

McIntyre has gone through a character rejuvenation since turning heel in WWE. He's become more of a troll in recent weeks, doing things like visiting Mindy's Bakery in Chicago before Monday night's episode of Raw. CM Punk was famously eating a muffin from Mindy's during his rant at AEW's All Out 2022 media scrum.

In an interview with CBS Sports, McIntyre said he "100 percent" feels like he's upgraded as a performer over the past few months. McIntyre is proud of the work he did before this, but there was a line he couldn't cross. McIntyre said it feels like those limitations no longer exist:

100 percent, mostly because I'm fueled in a way I have not felt in a long time. I really have to point back to my independent run where I truly found myself and I was truly relaxed and I wasn't worried about anything except telling my truth. And over the past few years, you know as a smiling sword man, very proud of the work I did, but there was also a line I couldn't cross. There were certain ways things were always done. We had to stay within those limitations.

Right now it feels like there's no limitations. There's no right or wrong answers. There's everything outside the box. Everything you do now -- obviously in collaboration with the creative team, stay on point, stay on the story, don't go out of the bounds of the story you're trying to tell. But if you have an idea you go for it. If it succeeds it's on you. If it fails it's on you. That's all I've ever asked for my entire career was let it fall on me.

McIntyre is challenging Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 night two on Sunday, April 7. Last night, it was revealed that Punk will be part of the commentary team for the match. Punk was originally planned to challenge Rollins at WrestleMania but suffered a torn triceps at the Royal Rumble.

McIntyre, Rollins, and Punk all traded insults on Monday's Raw. Their full 19-minute segment can be watched below:
