After an A&E documentary and ESPN 30 for 30, there will now be a Biopic on 74-year-old wrestling legend Ric Flair, whose real name is Richard Fliehr. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s company, Seven Bucks Productions, will produce the biopic. In an Instagram post that immediately went viral, the Rock formally announced his company’s involvement in the project, which does not have an estimated date for release.

“As a wild kid who grew up in the wild world of professional wrestling, I idolized “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. He was one of my heroes. And once I broke into the wrestling business and began to spill my own sweat and blood in arenas across America – my reverence for Ric turned to great respect. Because I realized just how rare and almost impossible it is to truly disrupt the wrestling business and truly change the game – and that’s exactly what Ric Flair did.”

“Ric Flair had a relentless passion to be the greatest of all time, but with achieving that GOAT status – he also sacrificed it all and paid a heavy price. And lived to tell the story. I’ve known Ric since I was 8 years old when he and my dad, Rocky “Soulman” Johnson, were wrestling together in the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance). This project is personal for me, and we at @sevenbucksprod & @kevin.misher films can’t wait to tell his unbelievable story. As always, “thank you for the house, Ric” ~ people’s champ.”

Flair would also post the video clip that The Rock did on his Instagram account, followed by this caption: “Thank You @therock For This Incredible Opportunity. Your Friendship Means The World To Me! This Is Truly The Dream Of A Lifetime! WOOOOO! @sevenbucksprod”

Although Flair’s story has been told in multiple documentaries, a film can go into Flair, the man, and his legendary moments outside the ring. Flair was known to drink excessively and party a lot, so a movie can work that in to make it more entertaining for those watching.
