Edge defeated Sheamus in a remarkable match on the August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Friday’s episode emanated from Edge’s hometown of Toronto, and it marked the 25th anniversary of Edge’s arrival in WWE. The week before the show, the WWE Hall of Famer challenged Sheamus to face him in a match. Ahead of the match, Edge revealed that it was the last bout on his current WWE contract.

The entire show was an emotional celebration of the beloved legend. The episode featured a video package that highlighted Edge’s career and clips from numerous WWE stars thanking the legend.

As for the match itself, Edge came out to a hero’s welcome in his hometown. His family was at ringside, and he greeted them on his way to the ring. His wife, Beth Phoenix, was tearing up before the match started. “The Rated-R Superstar” emerged victorious, as he pinned Sheamus after a second Spear.

Once the bell rang, Edge was clearly very emotional. He received another big pop, as well as an impressive burst of pyro. Edge hugged Sheamus, and Phoenix was shown crying at ringside as the show came to an end.
