One of the most respected veterans in the professional wrestling business is Eric Bischoff. The WWE Hall of Famer recently mentioned that he wants the Stamford-based promotion to take a former WWE United States Champion off of television. The person Bischoff was talking about was none other than WWE Superstar Austin Theory.

Ever since dropping the United States Championship to Rey Mysterio, Theory has not had much to do in WWE. The self-proclaimed 150 Million Hit-man has been more of a sidekick to the Aussie Icon Grayson Waller. Austin Theory was also featured on this past Saturday’s Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. Theory assisted Waller on the Grayson Waller Effect only to be knocked out by Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

During a recent episode of the 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff mentioned that he would want to take Theory off of television until the company figures out what to do with him.

“I’d probably take him off the air until I figured out what I really wanted to do with him, even if it took a couple of months of character work and exploration and trying different things and bring him back. Because the audience is still kind of resisting him just a bit.” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]

Bischoff also praised Theory but feels like he is not hitting all the right cylinders.

“You can’t shortcut that, all the pushes in the world won’t overcome a lack of respect from the audience, and that respect just comes with time and consistency. He’s talented too, he’s got a great look, he’s in great shape … He seems like a great character but he’s not quite hitting on all the right cylinders,” Eric Bischoff said.
