Ezekiel Jackson wasn’t ECW Champion for long.

“Big Zeke” was he last man to hold the iconic title. With help from William Regal, he pinned Christian on the final episode of (WWE’s) ECW to win the belt, before it was quickly retired. ECW was replaced by NXT the next week, with Jackson getting little fanfare about his title reign.

Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, Ezekiel Jackson revealed that he had a little celebration after winning the ECW Championship. He said that promos for NXT started immediately after his title win, and his victory was “in passing.”

“I walked back, man, and sadly, they were ready to roll into NXT and that was it. I came back, I’m happy as heck. It was kind of like in passing. It was always, for me, I’m celebrating myself as a world champ. I’m sure they saw something because they started running major promos on Smackdown for the next couple of weeks that ‘he’s coming to Smackdown, he’s coming to Smackdown.’ So there was something clicking there, but it wasn’t like a big celebratory thing.

“I’ve seen the stuff in the past where somebody won a World Championship for the first time,” he explained. “But they went straight into the first promo for NXT, and it was kind of in passing. I wasn’t offended because I’m like ‘Dude. You saw something. Whatever’s next, I’m ready for it.'”

WWE officially recognizes Ezekiel Jackson’s reign as ECW Champion as lasting less than one day.
