Not everyone will continue their wrestling careers when they finish up with a major promotion like AEW or WWE. Some people will retire and go into a different profession, while others will stay in the wrestling business by making the transition into various roles, whether that be as an announcer, producer, manager, or trainer.

Chris Hero has remained in the wrestling business but has done so behind the scenes. Hero found success in ROH before going to WWE with his stint from 2011-2013 and later returned in 2016 for his second run, where he was used in NXT in addition to working for the NXT UK brand.

Hero was released in April 2020 due to budget cuts and hasn’t wrestled since then, although he started working as a full-time producer for AEW earlier this year.

Hero is slated to wrestle fellow former WWE star Timothy Thatcher this Friday in the main event of West Coast Pro Wrestling's return to San Francisco, CA. Other matches booked for the show include Bryan Keith vs. Alpha Zo, Kevin Blackwood vs. Jiah Jewell, and West Coast Pro Wrestling Champion Starboy Charlie vs. Chris Bey.
