Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega praises WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.

Speaking on a Twitch stream, Kenny Omega looked back on the match between Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio at WWE SummerSlam 2002. He called Angle the greatest and stated that he was the most complete wrestler ever. (H/t Neal Flanagan of POST Wrestling for the transcription)

“You compare another 3.75 [star] match from Dave [Meltzer] to that, and the athleticism is on a complete other level,” Kenny Omega said. “The psychology is on a complete other level. The amount of understanding of the characters and their motivations is on a complete other level. And this is why, for me, I do think that Kurt Angle is the greatest — I can’t even say just in the ring.

“For me, he’s the most complete wrestler of all time. He’s my favorite. He’s my go-to guy to study for me. Being an athletic guy that wants to be able to mesh well and complement every wrestling style. I’m also, of course — anyone who’s familiar with me here in the chat — I’m not afraid to embarrass myself or do silly things, and that’s what I loved a lot about what Kurt did on TV.”

In a tweet, Kurt Angle responded to Kenny Omega’s comments.

Kenny Omega remains sidelined as he continues to recover from diverticulitis. As of this writing, there is no word on when he will return to AEW.

Kurt Angle recently said that he still has a WWE contract and commented on a potential return.
