Kenny Omega has named three WWE wrestlers he’d love to see compete in the G1 Climax.

The G1 Climax is the most prestigious tournament in Japanese wrestling. It is a four week, round-robin style tournament held by NJPW, featuring some of the best wrestlers in the world. Wrestlers fight in blocks, with the winners of each block competing in the final.

The tournament winner receives a title shot in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom the following year. Stars like Kazuchika Okada, Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant have all won in the past.

Kenny Omega even won it himself, back in 2016. He spoke on one of his Twitch streams (via Twitter) recently about the tournament, and was asked which WWE wrestlers he’d like to see compete in it.

He named Ilja Dragunov, Gunther and Seth Rollins as the three men he’d want to see, although he did note that Dragunov would be more suited to the Best of the Super Juniors tournament instead.

“I said it again. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it a million times. Ilja Dragunov would probably be the best guy to have. He just embodies that style. Actually, you know what? Sorry. Ilja would be great in the [Best of the] Super Juniors. We need Gunther. Gunther in the G1 is exactly what you want to see. You’d have to see someone like that. And Seth [Rollins].”

Kenny Omega: Me And Seth Rollins Are Kindred Spirits

Kenny Omega continued. He called himself and Seth Rollins “kindred spirits”, going back to their time in ROH and PWG together.

“And again, being a fan of Seth, and not unintentionally, Seth and I have very similar styles. I think our outlooks to wrestling are pretty similar too. Probably a little different now, but I remember when we were both doing our think in PWG. We travelled a lot together, actually. Back in the Ring of Honor days, we would always hang out together.”

“I sort of found a bit of a kindred spirit a little bit. We had a very similar musical tastes. I was of course a little more into nerdier stuff than Seth. I’m a huge gamer, as you guys may or may not know. But we were both very much invested into telling stories using our natural athletic ability.”
