A pair of new reports give a huge update on when wrestling fans could see Roman Reigns and Adam Cole back in action, and it seems it won’t be any time soon for either.

Former WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns and AEW veteran Adam Cole are two of the most talented performers in the professional wrestling business today. However, both are not expected to be performing inside a ring in the near future, but for very different reasons.

Ahead of WrestleMania 40, it was reported that Reigns was expected to take a long layoff following appearances in the main event of the two-night card. It was not due to injuries but more so because of the limitations of his part-time contract with the promotion.

Last week, Wrestle Ops reported that “The Tribal Chief” was advertised for the Aug. 2 episode of Smackdown before Summerslam 2024. Unfortunately, a follow-up post on X from Wrestle Blog claimed he had been removed from the date. This means WWE could be trying to conceal his return or he won’t be back until after the summer spectacle.

Adam Cole may not make AEW return before Roman Reigns

When it comes to former NXT champion Adam Cole, the news on his comeback to the ring isn’t promising either. After suffering a broken ankle last September, he has been making occasional appearances on AEW content while recovering from the injury.

On Wednesday, a source close to Cole told Fightful Select that he was “not very close to returning to the ring” and that being on the road was actually slowing down his progress to get back to 100% health after undergoing two surgeries to repair his ankle.

At this rate, it is looking like it may be a summer return for Cole considering the injury must be fully healed first before he can get back into ring shape.
