Mark Henry believes CM Punk‘s old-school mentality resulted in him rubbing a lot of people the wrong way backstage at All Elite Wrestling.

Mark Henry was a recent guest on Booker T’s Hall of Fame Podcast. When Booker said he believed CM Punk didn’t take the time to bring the younger wrestlers up to his level in the company, Henry disagreed with that statement.

“I disagree,” Mark Henry said. “I saw him try to uplift the younger talent in AEW, and AEW is not a small pool. Anytime you can go to an arena and sell 80,000 plus tickets, you’re not little. I feel like Punk is a lot like some of the people in sports that I know. The people in sports hate the fact that college football and college students are getting paid money now.

Some of CM Punk’s convictions fell on deaf ears

“It’s an old school mentality, and the old school mentality rubs young people the wrong way. Young people call you a boomer, or they say you’re old, outdated, or whatever. Some people are stuck in their ways, Book; and Punk is stuck in his way. And that’s not a knock, I like conviction.

“I like somebody that can stand to their guns, and they can debate with you on the fact that you know what this is why sometimes being old will save your life because I know better, I experienced it. I went through the fire, and I feel like that Punk’s delivery of those some of that conviction fell on deaf ears.”
