Matt Hardy discusses attending the Match 18 episode of WWE RAW.

Matt Hardy was in attendance at the March 18 taping of WWE RAW, which was held in Raleigh, North Carolina. Hardy was reportedly just visiting, but his attendance sparked some buzz, as his AEW contract is set to expire this month.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran was asked about attending the show.

“It’s wild,” Matt Hardy said. “So to fill everybody in on the full story, Sean Ross Sapp [of Fightful] actually contacted me about it, about what was going on. I gave him the cliff notes of kind of what happened, and what he reported was right. Literally, myself and my wife, which we try and do once, maybe twice a week, we had a date night where it was just me and her without kids. We were eating in Raleigh, we having a great dinner, and she was contacted by one of her friends that she does a spa with in Raleigh.

“Raleigh is just a few miles from the Hardy Compound, everyone knows that. They had a suite, which they always have, over at the PNC, which is the arena in Raleigh. They invited Reby over, they said, ‘Hey, you wanna come hang out, whatever? There’s free food. We’d like to see you.’ It’s funny because this was after those comments had been made by Michael Cole [about the brother vs. brother match at WrestleMania].”

Matt Hardy: Reby Went To WWE RAW To Hang Out

Matt Hardy continued by emphasizing that his wife wanted to go to the show, and while he was somewhat hesitant, he agreed to go. He stated that it was an innocent thing, and he also recalled taking pictures with fans.

“Long story short, they said, ‘Hey, would you like to come by, whatever. Reby’s like, ‘Oh, we should go by there. I’d like to see my friend,'” Matt Hardy said. “I said, ‘Ugh, I wouldn’t want to go by there.’ She said, ‘Well, they’re in a sky box, so it closed off, whatever.’ We wouldn’t be getting there until 8:45, 9 o’clock, whatever. So we actually went, Reby hung out with her friends for a little bit. The sky box, the suite was pretty open in the front, and yes, I did get recognized, and people started forming a line to take photos with me and whatnot. We cut out of there about 10:30. I was there probably 80 or 90 minutes altogether, and I probably took 200 photos.

“Once word got out that I was there, it was crazy. There was literally at point a line, and security came and had to make them move against the wall so I could take photos with them. Anyway, my wife went to hang out, and I was there. It was a very innocent thing, at the end of the day. But it was wild. It was wild being in the PNC Arena, where we had SummerSlam 2000, and that’s where the first TLC match went down, and just seeing WWE there running again, it was wild.”

Matt Hardy: I’m A Fan, I Love Watching Wrestling

Matt Hardy continued by noting that it was fun to sit back as a spectator. He stated that he is a fan of professional wrestling, and he loves watching it.

“It was fun, just to sit back as a spectator and watch wrestling,” Matt Hardy said. “At the end of the day, I’m pro wrestling’s biggest fan, too. I love watching pro wrestling if I get the opportunity to. I knew as soon as I started taking pictures, I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is gonna get blown out of…this is gonna go nuts,’ and it is what is. In reality, I’m okay with that.”
