The upcoming Von Erich biopic from A24 has found its matriarch.

As first reported by Deadline, Maura Tierney has joined the cast of “The Iron Claw” the upcoming biopic chronicling the Von Erich family, their Texas wrestling territory, and the tragedies that surrounded their lives. Maura will be playing Doris Adkisson, the mother of Kevin, David, Michael, Chris, and Kerry Von Erich, and the wife of Fritz Von Erich.

In February 1988, Doris, who passed in 2015, was quoted in D Magazine as saying that she preferred referred to as an Adkisson as opposed to taking on the Von Erich name.

“But to be honest, we hardly know who the Adkissons are anymore. We have been a wrestling family for so long. I suppose I want the family to know that when they are tired of being Von Erichs, there is a place they can come to where they can still be Adkissons. But I don’t know if you can ever stop being a Von Erich.”

The loaded cast for this upcoming film includes Harris Dickinson, Jeremy Allen White, Holt McCallany, and Zac Efron. Efron will be playing Kevin Von Erich, the only surviving Son of Doris and Jack Adkisson, better known as Fritz Von Erich.

The film has yet to receive a release date but production is underway in Louisiana.
