Mercedes Mone has found a lot of success outside of the WWE bubble when she departed from the company after negotiating her release and signing with NJPW.

She made her promotional debut in January at WrestleKingdom in the Tokyo Dome to challenge KAIRI for the IWGP Women's Championship and later captured the title at Battle in the Valley.

She made her first title defense when she defeated Hazuki and STARDOM's High-Speed Champion AZM in a three-way match at Sakura Genesis. Following the match, STARDOM's "Icon" Mayu Iwatani challenged her to a match at STARDOM's All Star Grand Queendom on April 23.

During a recent press conference, Money got out a guitar and sang a song that she called “Mayu Sucks.” There were fans on social media who mocked her for it being cheesy. One fan noted the promo “explains why Sasha Banks is the female Dean Ambrose.”

This was a knock on her as Jon Moxley had to do comedic angles towards the end of his WWE run, something he didn't like doing and has been public about that in the past. Mone responded by stating that it proved she was a female version of The Rock, who has been known to show off his singing skills, especially during his Hollywood Rock run.
