Last week on WWE RAW, CM Punk gave a brief shoutout to Mickie James, a move that surprised and flattered the former WWE superstar.

Speaking during a recent appearance on Premier Streaming Network Wrestling’s YouTube channel, James said that she was surprised at the move, and actually got a message from Punk afterward.

“I was very shocked by that, too. I was like ‘Oh this is random and interesting,'” said James. “He even messaged me after going ‘Hey P.S., I dropped your name.’ I guess in case my timeline started to blow up.”

James says their careers could have been very different

Punk’s shoutout was referring to the time that both he and James were originally introduced as an on-screen couple, although after just one match, Punk was sent back down to Ohio Valley Wrestling. James went on to say that she told him their careers could have been very different had things gone differently.

“But I always…I know I’ve said it to him before, and this sounds like a broken record and I’m sure I’ve said it in interviews, but how different our careers would have been, if that had been our launching pad,” said James. “Because I was already at OVW, and they were looking at it as to be a debut, and put us together, I think it was because we had worked together at TNA at the time…so I’ve known Punk a long time in this business.”
