NJPW announced that they would be acquiring all stakes in Bushiroad Fight Co. Ltd., more commonly referred to as World Wonder Ring STARDOM.

In a news update on NJPW’s official website, the company claimed that the acquisition will work towards improving the efficiency of operations eliminating the redundancies within Bushiroad. NJPW management has since taken over the direction of the STARDOM upon former executive producer Rossy Ogawa’s departure from the company. Thus, NJPW taking STARDOM under their banner centralizes the management for both companies’ talent. This arrangement also allows for easier collaborations in joint events such as Historic X-Over 2 expected sometime this year.

The stock transfer officially occurs on June 28th, and Bushiroad Fight Co. Ltd. will henceforth be renamed to STARDOM Co. Ltd. come this date.

NJPW management’s statements

The President of the Bushiroad parent company, Taro Okada, issued a statement on the acquisition on the same news post. “Now more than four years into this relationship, and with changes being undertaken in the management and operating structure of the company, there was a desire for a stronger connection between our offices, which is being put into place with this announcement. I hope we can find new ways to show the world just how impressive Japanese pro-wrestling can be, and as athletes in both STARDOM and NJPW rings continue to push new boundaries, we look forward to your continued support,” he says.

NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi also believes that there are endless possibilities for collaboration between the two companies. He claims that the introduction of women’s championships is only one of many possibilities in this partnership. He then looks forward to seeing how both companies will work to deliver quality wrestling content for audiences worldwide.
