Paul Wight is known for his career as a professional wrestler but he also built an impressive acting resume over the years.
Wight has more than two dozen acting credits to his name ranging from television and film to sketch comedy. These are Paul Wight’s five best roles outside of the ring.
The Big Show Show (2020)
Paul Wight played a fictionalized version of himself as a wrestler adjusting to retirement and home life. Wight got a chance to act opposite a solid cast including Jaleel White (Family Matters) and Allison Munn (That ’70s Show, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn).
This was Wight’s first regular leading role that was unfortunately canceled early. It’s unclear what ultimately led Netflix to pull the plug, but The Big Show Show deserved more than one season.
Saturday Night Live (2000)
This one’s a bit more improv than formal acting, but it’s one of Paul Wight’s most memorable on-screen appearances.
The Rock hosted a March 18, 2000 episode of Saturday Night Live that also featured AC/DC as the musical guest, but Paul Wight stole the show that night.
Wight, Triple H, Mick Foley and Vince McMahon were also on hand for the taping, but Wight got to show off his comedic skills. The Big Show had always been a scary giant to that point, but Wight got to show his range and do some more goofball antics, including being a cheerleader for the “Great One.”
Jingle All The Way (1996)
Paul Wight portrayed a giant Santa in Jingle All The Way. (He’s credited as “Huge Santa”) This was another cameo, but it was short and effective.
Wight got to battle Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Howard Langston in an underrated Christmas movie about the lengths a father will go to secure the perfect Christmas present.

Paul Wight got to show his range as a voice actor for Netflix’s Spy Racers series based in the Fast & Furious universe. Wight played Palindrome, a bounty hunter that has “tremendous hair” and a score to settle with the show’s protagonists.
Palindrome was introduced as an adversary, but he did a babyface turn of sorts in later seasons. Wight also got the chance to learn and speak Russian for the show.
The Waterboy (1998)
This was a short cameo in The Waterboy, but Paul Wight’s role as Captain Insano is arguably his most famous one. Fans still quote it in reference to Wight, who actually secured the contractual rights to portray the character as a wrestler.
“Captain Insano” appeared on the November 16, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite. Wight said he plans on having fun with the gimmick before he eventually retires from in-ring competition.
