Kevin Patrick has reportedly been removed from the SmackDown commentary team. A new update states that WWE has at least a temporary solution.

On January 23, F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer (via Wrestling Observer Radio) reported that Kevin Patrick was being removed from the SmackDown commentary team, barring a change in plans. Aaron Varble first reported the news, which was confirmed by PWInsider as well.

In an update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that, per sources, Michael Cole will be on commentary alongside Corey Graves for the January 26 episode of WWE SmackDown. Cole will be in town for WWE Royal Rumble anyway. As of this writing, there is no word on who will be Kevin Patrick’s permanent replacement.

Cole had been calling the action on both RAW and SmackDown until the beginning of January. At that time, WWE made some changes. The company had Cole stay on Mondays with Patrick becoming the lead announcer for the blue brand.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
