A new report provides an update on Jerry Lawler‘s WWE broadcasting contract not getting renewed.

On May 6, PWInsider reported that Jerry Lawler’s announcing contract had not been renewed. WWE stated that he still had a Legends Deal with the company. Some fans responded to the news by hoping to see him reunite with Jim Ross in AEW.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that, per AEW sources, Jerry Lawler’s name has not been brought up as a possibility.

Sapp cites those close to Lawler who noted that he does not follow AEW. It was also noted that does not watch a lot of wrestling anymore. Sources also say that he is likely also done in the ring following the stroke he suffered in 2023.

Lawler last appeared on WWE television in a pre-taped video on NXT in November 2023. He made an untelevised appearance in front of the live crowd when RAW came to Memphis in August 2023.

Lawler recently provided an update on his health and said that it was great, but he was still dealing with some effects of the stroke.
