WWE

During a backstage segment with Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley was injured and may need to vacate her WWE title that she has held for over a year.

Just over a year ago, Rhea Ripley passed a full year as Women’s World Champion, which is a record for that belt. She spent the beginning of the year feuding with Nia Jax before switching her attention to Royal Rumble winner, Becky Lynch. They met at WrestleMania 40, with Rhea winning clean. On TV this week, we learned her next opponent would be Liv Morgan. This was obvious after Liv hurled a chair at the head of the champion. Remember, Rhea injured Morgan months ago and it is payback time.

Yet, we have run into a problem as PWInsider reports Ripley was injured in the spot. There is no word on what kind of injury, but it seems somewhat severe. WWE is under the impression she mad need to vacate her title. WWE has been advertising Rhea addressing the fans and that seems to have been planned before the injury. We will have to see if WWE changes course and the storyline turns into her dropping gold.

Already Working Hurt

Rhea has been wrestling hurt at least for a few weeks. She was spotted wearing a cast on her wrist in the buildup to WrestleMania 40. This time, the injury might be too much. Depending on what the doctors say, the The Judgement Day member might not have any options. Still, ending such a lengthy reign because of injury is the worst.

While her first run with the title started, beating Charlotte Flair in a classic at WrestleMania 39, she did not defend the belt much. Even then, few put up much of a chance. She was heavily featured as the possible leader of The Judgement Day, depending how you see it, and working with Dominik Mystery. So, if Rhea Ripley is injured, hopefully a little bit of rehab will be enough and she does not have to vacate her title?
