Ricky Starks is set to challenge for the AEW World Championship.

Starks defeated Ethan Page in the finals of the AEW World title eliminator tournament on Wednesday's Dynamite, earning a shot at MJF's title at Dynamite: Winter is Coming on December 14.

Starks defeated Page after hitting three spears in a match where his upper body was taped as he sold injuries from matches with Lance Archer and Brian Cage last Friday and Saturday.

Though billed from New Orleans, Starks made his name on the independent wrestling scene in Texas, and Winter is Coming will be held in Garland, Texas.

MJF won the AEW World title from Jon Moxley at Full Gear last Saturday, but was absent from Wednesday's Dynamite as he was reportedly on set for The Iron Claw film. William Regal announced on Wednesday's show that MJF will return on next week's episode in his first official appearance as AEW World Champion.
