Often regarded as one of the best wrestlers of all-time, it’s no surprise to learn that one major company was interested in bringing Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat on as a road agent.

During a recent virtual signing on Captain’s Corner, fans received the opportunity to ask the WWE Hall of Famer some questions. One viewer asked Steamboat if he had interest in working in All Elite Wrestling as a manager. Steamboat, of course, made an appearance for AEW last year as he served as the guest timekeeper on the August 17, 2022 edition of Dynamite. While the 70-year-old was happy to make that appearance, he isn’t interested in joining their team in a full-time manner on-screen, or off-screen.

“Believe it or not, I was already asked to come aboard in a capacity of [a road agent],” Steamboat said. “Not anymore [when asked if he’s no longer interested in that kind of role]. No reflection on them, great company and everything, and don’t get me wrong, the pay would have been great. But I’m at a point in time in my life where I’m trying to get off the road. [I’ve had] 40-something years of being on the road.”

Ricky Steamboat made a brief return to the road last year. In August, he emerged on episode of NWA Powerrr. Later that fall, Steamboat returned to in-ring action for the first time in 12 years. There, he teamed with FTR to take on Brock Anderson, Jay Lethal and Nick Aldis at Big Time Wrestling. With the help of his teammates, Steamboat and FTR grounded all three opponents with Figure-Four leg locks for the win.

Steamboat has not wrestled since.
