Rolando Romero has hit back at Teofimo Lopez for leaking a sparring session between them, which showed the Takeover dominating Rolly.
The leak was done in response to Romero slamming Oscar De La Hoya for not making the Ryan Garcia bout. Ryan withdrew from talks with Devin Haney to make a fight with Romero. Everything appeared on track until De La Hoya stated that Romero had priced himself out of the fight. Rolly blamed Garcia’s team for trying to make Isaac Cruz fight behind his back instead.
That did not sit well with Garcia, who stated that he was confident a fight would be made for April 20, 2024. That all came to an end as Romero-Cruz was announced. Lopez backed De La Hoya by promising to put Romero in his place, just as he had done in a prior sparring session, as he leaked the footage.
Now Romero has cleared the air, stating that he has several videos of him dominating Lopez but will not release them. The incident has also put an end to any friendship they had, as Romero claimed he stopped Lopez from taking his life several times.

“October 27th, 2016, I hadn’t even turned pro. “I got so many videos of me cracking him. I got video of me busting his nose and leaking out blood. But I don’t want to go into details about that. Teofimo, he was a brother to me. Every question that you ask about Teofimo Lopez, I know the answer to.
“I saved the kid from killing himself a few times. I don’t know what he’s doing right now, but it’s not Teofimo. It sounds like he’s being desperate for something and it sounds like he’s broke right now. You don’t want to pick a battle with someone who knows you too well, who knows everything about you,” Romero said
Romero Vs. Cruz
Outside of that personal feud, Romero has a big fight on his hands. He is the co-main event attraction against Cruz on the Keith Thurman vs Tim Tszyu card on March 30. This will be PBC’s first PPV on Amazon Prime Video, showing how big of an opportunity it is to showcase his talent. Cruz is no pushover since his only defeat came from Gervonta Davis.
But he did manage to last the full 12 rounds, showing he can hold his own at the elite level. Romero’s only loss was also against Davis. He was eventually stopped, but before that, he was getting the better of the exchanges. But the focus is fully on defending his WBA Junior Welterweight Title.
“It’s going to be a banger, it’s going to be fireworks, and I think it’s going to be the right fight to kick off Amazon Prime,” Romero added
