The Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe has been a part of the professional wrestling industry for nearly 25 years. Throughout his career, the current AEW World Heavyweight Champion has competed in several promotions. Some of the top companies Samoa Joe has worked for include TNA Wrestling, WWE, and Lucha Libre. One of the promotions that put Joe on the map was Ring of Honor.

Recently, during a special sit-down interview with Renee Paquette for the AEW Close Up series, Samoa Joe opened up about his return to Ring of Honor. The AEW World Heavyweight Champion made a return to Ring of Honor in 2022. The last time fans had seen him in ROH Television prior to 2022 was seven years ago. Joe mentioned that ROH holds a special place in his heart.

“Obviously, Ring of Honor holds a very special place in my heart. To come back to it after all these years and to help it in its next iteration, to become a champion, and represent the brand once again. It was a tremendous honor for me and it means a tremendous amount to me. Because Ring of Honor is a place where I made my mark in the world. Ring of Honor is a place where several, several very talented grapplers of the industry over have made their mark. And I think it’ll go down in the annals of history as one of the most influential organizations to ever be in this industry. So, to come back and be a part of that, it meant a tremendous amount to me,” Joe said.

Samoa Joe is set to defend his AEW World Title against Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty next week.
