Seth Rollins successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Jinder Mahal.

Rollins and Mahal headlined the January 15 episode of WWE RAW, as Rollins put the gold on the line in a buzzworthy bout. For Mahal, the contest was the first time he had a televised match on the main roster since November 2022. Before WWE Raw Day One, he had a brief run in NXT, but he had not competed there since March 2023.

The bout between Mahal and Rollins proved to be a chaotic battle. Indus Sher (Veer Mahaan and Sanga), and Damian Priest were all present during the match. Priest teased cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase, while Mahaan and Sanga interfered in the action.

Mahal was on the verge of victory after Indus Sher hit Rollins with the Money in the Bank briefcase, as he dropped the champion with the Khallas for a near fall. Drew McIntyre then showed up and somewhat leveled the playing field by brawling with Priest.

In the closing moments, despite a valiant effort from Mahal, Rollins hit the Stomp and pinned him for the win. As a result, Rollins retained the title and overcame perhaps his last major test on the road to WWE Royal Rumble.
